Information Session: IFA Basic Referees Course
UUSU Sport, in association with the Irish Football Association (IFA), has organised an Information Session for the IFA Basic Referees Course for all students at Ulster University. Scheduled for Tuesday 10th February 11.00am-12.00pm, Jordanstown campus, the Information Session is compulsory if you wish to sign up to the Basic Referee Course, and will provide information about the course and what is expected of a referee.
The Basic Referees Course involves 12 hours of classroom and outdoor based learning culminating in a written test which must be successfully completed. At the completion of the course each referee will be provided contact details of a mentor and be allocated a league. Each new referee must officiate in 6 games before being confirmed as a junior referee. This initial 6 game period allows an experienced referee to mentor the new referee providing a point of contact and support network for the newly qualified official. Once 6 games are completed the referee is invited back to their local referees association to receive their certificate and be confirmed as a Junior referee.
If you are interested in becoming a referee and wish to confirm a place on the IFA Information Session please email Charlie on email@example.com for an expression of interest form by Monday 2nd February at midnight. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so I would encourage you to sign up at your earliest convenience.
