UUSU Sport will present Colours Awards to individuals in recognition of their achievements and contribution to the sporting life of their club, UUSU Sport and the University. All nominees for Awards must be UUSU Sport members or a coach registered with UUSU Sport.

Colours 2016 will take place on Saturday 21 May at 7pm in the amazing Titanic Belfast, this is the first time we have hosted the event here and it is sure to be a fantastic night.

Colours Criteria 2016

Service Award

For non-students who, for a period of no less than three years, have been involved as at least three of the following:

  • Instrumental in the day to day management of the club
  • Responsible for the organisation and running of training, fixtures or events
  • Developing the club, its members and activities
  • Developing new initiatives to better the club
  • Raising funds / attracting sponsorship for the club
  • Implementing Sports Union policies & encouraging good practice

NB – ONLY ONE NOMINEE PER CLUB

Club Award

For students who, for a period of no less than two years, have been involved as at least three of the following:

  • A club committee member or office bearer
  • Instrumental in the day to day running of the club
  • Responsible for the organisation and running of training, fixtures or events
  • Raising funds / attracting sponsorship for the club
  • Promoting the club and its activities
  • Implementing Sports Union policies & encouraging good practice

Fresher of the Year

“For the first year students who are regarded by the Colours Awards Committee as having shown enthusiasm, commitment and made the most significant contribution, whether as a participant or administrator/official, to their club.”

Coach of the Year

“For the person, student or non-student who is regarded by the Colours Awards Committee as having made the most outstanding contribution to club sport at Ulster University through their role as a coach. This may be evidenced through performance, progression and/ or commitment”

NB Nominees for this Award category must hold a recognised governing body coaching qualification and be registered as a club coach with the Sports Union.

Carson Clarke Award (Jordanstown and Belfast)

“For the person who is regarded by the Colours Awards Committee as having made the most
outstanding contribution to student sport during the year. The Award is for administration/organisation and playing ability is not a factor. Nominations will be considered for any person (student, staff or other) involved in a club at Jordanstown and Belfast.”

NB – This Award is for the Jordanstown and Belfast campuses only. Nominees should previously have been awarded a Club or Service Award.

Chris Lundy Rose Bowl (Coleraine and Magee)

“For the person who is regarded by the Colours Awards Committee as having made the most outstanding contribution to student sport during the year. The Award is for administration/organisation and playing ability is not a factor. Nominations will be considered for any student involved in a club at Coleraine or Magee.”

NB – This Award is for the Coleraine and Magee campuses only. Nominees should previously have been awarded a Club Award.
