Back to Back Intervarsity Success for Netball

It’s been a fantastic week for Netball at Ulster University

A squad of 12 females were selected by intervarsity coach, Teresa Gillespie, to represent Ulster University in the recent Irish Intervarsity hosted by Queens. Determined to retain their title from 2015, the girls played strongly, comfortably winning each qualifying game and the semi-final. Into the final and they did not disappoint. A win over Queens and the Irish Intervarsity Cup was theirs once again. A fantastic achievement for a dedicated group of students (picture 2)! A massive thanks to Teresa Gillespie for her commitment to the squad.

Four days later and the Ulster University Jordanstown side (picture 1) faced St Mary’s in the SSI League Final at Antrim Forum. It was a tight match and it wasn’t until extra time that the Jordanstown girls ended their university netball season on a high beating St Mary’s 35-29. Thanks to coach Lisa Bowman who has helped turn this campus club around in 2016.
